| QUESTION: I have the Ducati Performance pipes on my ST4 ("05 model). I have burnt my leg accidently on the necks of the pipes when not wearing long boots. What is the best solution please to insulate these pipes? |
| ANSWER: There is only guaranteee of safety - a heat shield. Wrapping a pipe does NOT constitute a heat shield, it slows down the transfer of heat so that momentary contact can occur without major damage. A heat shield must be connected iwth heat insulative materials and itself be resistant to retaining heat. Wearing a boot is another guarantee - the heat shield is on your leg instead of on the pipe. The Cool Tube product is not suitable for installation on exhaust pipes, you need a minimum of 1600F capable material for this purpose. |
